The Trial

Nov 03, 2024 / Bible Study / 0 COMMENTS

Today’s Scripture: November 3
Jesus’ trial before Caiaphas ended in the early hours of the morning. Then he was taken to the headquarters of the Roman governor” (John 18:28).

Much prophecy had been written about what would happen this day: from Jesus being falsely accused (Ps 27:12), to his being beaten with rods (Micah 5:1) and stripped of his clothes (Ps 22:18). The trail before the High Priest was a phony, in violation of multiple Jewish Laws. Today we discuss those violations referring back to the Law.

What’s most ironic in this trial is that Annas, a descendent of Zadok, David’s High Priest is actually falsely trying and accusing Jesus, from the royal line of David, the King! Thirty years later, Annas’ son, Ananus condemns James (Jesus’ brother) to death by stoning. Are we careful to live with the “mind of Christ” rather than going blindly along with the crowd?
