This video is a bit longer than normal… as we discover the meaning of Daniel’s “seventy sets of seven” prophecy and how that relates to the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s wall (in our reading today) and Jesus’ first and second comings.

Notes
The book of Nehemiah tells the historical account of the rebuilding of Jerusalem’s wall. The fourth edict of the king of Persia enabled its rebuilding and set a series of events in motion foretold by none other than our very own Daniel (Daniel 9). Today we discuss a period of time, foretold almost a century before, that spanned the rebuilding of the wall to the (first) coming of Israel’s Messiah, Jesus!

A set of “seven” is a period of seven years, so the “seventy sets of seven” (Daniel 9:25) is a period of 490 years total. To understand this prophecy, it is helpful to realize there is a division – the church age – between the first 69 “sevens” and the last “seven” (7 years), the age in which we currently live.

My goodness, what detail! And to see that Jesus rode in exactly at the time foretold by Daniel…just another confirmation of Who He is and what will come. Wow.

Thank you for the timeline. Even though there was so much to consider it helps put together all the truths that point to the final Truth–Jesus is Lord, Son of God, and will be coming back to save His people. Hallelujah!

Timelining is so helpful to me, too. Thank you for your faithfulness to this study and your posts! They mean so much to so many.
