Strike the rock and water will come gushing out. Then the people will be able to drink” (Exodus 17:6).

Route through Wilderness

To Find (look for):

  1. According to Psalm 105, what is manna?
  2. Why did Moses need to hold up his hands during the battle?

To Mind (key point):
The Lord brought his people out of Egypt. When they asked for meat, he sent them quail. When they asked for bread, he sent them manna – bread from heaven. And it fell right in their midst for the entire 40 years, right up until the time they entered the promised land. What they really needed was water, and God sent water gushing out to form a river through the dry wasteland.

To Bind (apply to our lives):
Jesus is the bread of heaven. He is also living water. Just like the rock that gushed out drinking water when the people needed it, Jesus is the Rock that gives living water when we need it.

Shannon, what an encouraging study today! Praise God I have intercessors–my friends praying for me; I have the Rod–Jesus fighting the battle for me; and I have the power of the One True God and His promise that He will take care of me today and every day. To Him be the glory!

And I’ve never heard the comparison of Jesus and the manna in that way. Thank you for the beautiful picture of God’s provision of our Bread and Living Water.

Blessings on your day, sweet friend!

Yes, you are surrounded with love of friends and of God – as are we all even when we don’t realize!
