Today’s Scripture
“The Lord himself watches over you!” (Psalm 122:5).

 

 
The Psalms beginning with 120 and concluding with 134 are called the Psalms of Ascent. Designed for worship, they may have been sung on the pilgrimage to Jerusalem which was taken three times each year, or they might have been sung on the 15 steps leading up to the Temple.

 
To the Israelite, a mountain was a symbol of the immovable and unchangeable. Mount Zion (the mountain on which Jerusalem rests) was – and is – believed to be connected with a divine purpose. In these Psalms, read and be encouraged that help comes from the Lord no matter what our limitations.
