Today’s Scripture
“In seven days I’ll meet you and I’ll sacrifice the offering” (1 Samuel 10:8).
Kingdom of Saul:
Yesterday, Saul was declared king! Today, we see insights into the relationship between kings and prophets. In the midst of a decimating battle, Saul fails to wait a few hours more until Samuel arrived to perform the sacrifice. Saul offers it himself committing a grievous mistake against the Lord’s regulations. When confronted by Samuel, he deflects accountability and blames others. Samuel prophecies his kingdom will not endure.
While it is easy to look at Saul’s situation and see the wrong in his actions, how easy is it for us to fail to wait on God? Can you think of a time when you rushed into action before asking God what to do, which led to undesirable consequences?
Today, post a comment describing a situation in which you’re likely to be tempted not to wait on God. Give a personal example if you can.
Such a wise lesson! Thank you! I will be pausing more to truly pray in these situations rather than rushing into decisions as I sometimes do. I really relate to the sale temptation!
