Today’s Scripture
“Then Abraham continued traveling by stages” (Gen 12:9, 13:3).

 

 
As Abraham followed the will of God for his life, he had to travel “by stages.” Day by day, God showed him where he was to go and God gave him confirmation that he was in the right place along the way. So, too, we do not see the entire plan for our lives laid out before us, but are called to walk “by stages” as God reveals one piece at a time. This is so we continually depend on God our whole lives.

 
The command for Abraham to “Go, and leave Ur” came with a promise that all families on earth would be blessed. This was fulfilled in the coming of Jesus. Because of Abraham’s obedience, God turned it into great blessing. His story teaches us that as we obediently follow God’s calling on our lives, our own acts of obedience will, too, bring blessing.
