Today’s Scripture
“Only the priests are allowed to blow the trumpets” (Numbers 10:8).

 

 
The trumpets were sounded for many reasons: to call the people to assembly, to break camp, to go to war and to signal gladness at annual festivals. Trumpets were also blown over burnt and peace offerings to remind God of His covenant with the people.

 
Sometimes when the people sounded the trumpets, they were displaying their trust in God. Other times they were moving God to bless them with His presence and aid. In essence, the trumpets invoked and celebrated God’s presence among them. God’s presence within you sets you apart from the world. Do you start your day “sounding the trumpet” – invoking God’s presence into your life and circumstances?
