Today’s Scripture
“The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone” (Psalm 118:22).
What glory we find in today’s collection of the Psalms! We complete our reading of the Hallel, a collection of Psalms believed to have been sung by Jesus and the disciples as they left the Upper Room on their way to the Garden. Quoted over seven times in the NT, Psalm 118, is rich in Messianic prophecy!
As we read Psalm 118, we may want to ponder in amazement at the possibility of this being the last Psalm (song) Jesus sung with the disciples. So rich in pertinent prophecy to Jesus immediate situation, see the portrayal of his distress in the Garden (v 5), the enemies that came to arrest him (v 13), and his unwavering belief that God would not let him die (v 18).
