Stay here in this land. If you do, I will build you up… Do not fear the king of Babylon anymore, for I am with you” (Jeremiah 42:10-11).

A Map of World in Jeremiah’s Day

To Mind (key point):
Jeremiah was freed from prison by Nebuchadnezzar when the siege came, yet he was caught up with a group led by guerrilla leaders traveling to Egypt against the Lord’s wishes.

To Bind (apply to our lives):
Despite a clear warning from the Lord through Jeremiah, the people persisted stubbornly in their worship of idols, which ended in their spiritual death. Throughout history, people have neglected the Word of God. How are you doing obeying its truths?

Lots of great material today. I love the details you were able to share with us. Thank you for the extra work and research.

Two things I noticed that were powerful to me today:

    1. In Jeremiah 42:2, the people say, “Pray to the Lord YOUR God for us…” But when Jeremiah responds in verse 4, he says, “I will pray to the Lord YOUR God…”

    2. The in Jeremiah 33:30-33, the Lord is saying that the people come, acting like they want to hear what the prophet is saying from God, but yet they have no intention of obeying. Verse 32 says, “You are very entertaining to them, like someone who sings love songs with a beautiful voice or plays fine music on an instrument. They hear what you say but they don’t act on it!” Oh, how often have I listened to a speaker or singer, enjoying them as entertainment…but with no change of heart for doing God’s perfect will. Really made me think!

Thanks again, Shannon. I look forward to making progress this week, but probably won’t be caught up before I head out again in four more days. But I will catch up eventually. Can’t wait to be studying alongside you and my friends again!
