The Pain of Betrayal

Today’s Scripture
“I take joy in doing your will, for your instructions are written on my heart” (Psalm 40.8).

Surely, everyone can point to a moment of time where he/she remembers the bitter pain felt by the sting of betrayal. King David penned many Psalms expressing his grief during the flight from his enemies and specifically wrote others expressing the hurt of betrayal. Yet, through it all, David did not seek to fight back, but left the matter in God’s hands and trusted He would handle it.

Both David and Jesus had the sting of betrayal in common. David, betrayed by his closest advisor, Ahithopel, writes in Psalm 41 about the problem. Also Jesus, our Savior and sympathizer, was betrayed by one of the men closest to Him. Do you know what both these betrayers have in common? Listen today as we see the likeness in these Biblical situations and see if you don’t have a similar story of your own.
