A Priestly Office Of Praise

May 03, 2024 / Bible Study / 0 COMMENTS

Today’s Scripture
“4000 will praise the Lord with the instruments I made” (1 Chronicles 23:4).

After hundreds of years, the Levites no longer need to transport the Tabernacle and can perform other priestly duties. David has determined to build God a permanent dwelling place, a Temple in Jerusalem; and he sets out with directions from the Lord to assign tasks to the priests and Levites into service of God. A new priestly office is established – one of praise.

Singing was referred to as “proclaiming God’s messages” (1 Chronicles 25:1) and songs were very often prophetic in nature. Music permeated Israel’s life. Even Paul exhorts Christians to “sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs making music with all our heart.” Do you enjoy music and singing? What comes out of your mouth most often?
