Today’s Scripture
“Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty” (Isaiah 6:3).
Here is a chart of the 10 Commandments with New Testament references:
10 Commandments Chart
God is holy. His character is morally excellent, he is exceptionally uncommon and radiant in briliance. These three aspect of holiness – perfection, separateness and brilliance are attributes of His holiness. As God’s people, we too are called to be holy. I Peter 1:15 tells us, “But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God is holy.”
The 10 commandments teach us how to relate to God and to other people. To understand them fully, one must grasp the spirit of the law, that is to love, in addition to their literal meaning. God requires nothing of us to achieve salvation or to earn his love … for He loves us without our doing anything! But because He is holy, He calls us to be holy, to love Him above all else and to love other people as ourselves. To love God and love people is the sum of all the commandments.
