Counting the Clouds

Today’s Scripture
“Then the Lord answered Job in the storm” (Job 38:1).

God came in a storm in order to demonstrate His power and might in order to silence Job. Because Job’s attitude had been one of loftiness and pride, God’s whole purpose was to show that they were not equals. God has created a vast and marvelous universe! He created everything; he cares for everything and even tells the monsters (hippo and crocodile) what to do! He is great! God is asking Job why he is using his ignorance to deny God’s providence. Do you acknowledge God’s power and strength and trust God to provide for all your needs?

To see a visual demonstration of the vastness of the universe, watch this 2-minute video:
The Awe Factor of God by Francis Chan.

I ran out of time in the video to cover the beauty of “snow,” so let me share it with you here. Did you know that temperature, humidity, and the path a snow crystal follows on its journey to the ground are what create its form and shape? There are no two snowflakes alike! Just like the snowflake, our circumstances mold us into who we are, made unique and special like no other.

Job responded to God’s greatness in silence. This is a right and first step in the life of the believer in order to hear God. Job asked God twice to speak with Him (10:2, 23:4), and in response, God invited Job twice to talk with Him (38:3, 40:7). God is always willing and available to talk with us and fellowship with us. All we have to do is ask.
